Here Is The Official Date For Hunting Season In KP

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has announced that the hunting season across the province will begin on February 15, with strict regulations enforced to protect wildlife and sensitive ecosystems. Authorities have emphasized that only regulated and lawful hunting will be permitted during the season.

According to the Wildlife Department, the hunting of waterfowl will remain open until March 15. However, hunting will only be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays, a move aimed at limiting pressure on bird populations and ensuring better monitoring by officials.

The department has made it mandatory for all hunters to possess a valid shooting license, which carries a fee of Rs. 6,000. Officials said no individual will be allowed to hunt without proper documentation, and enforcement teams will be deployed across the province to check licenses and compliance.

Under the announced rules, each licensed hunter will be allowed to hunt a maximum of five birds per day. Authorities have also imposed a strict ban on the use of MP3 players or any electronic sound devices, which are often used to lure birds. Violators, officials warned, will face legal action under existing wildlife protection laws.

In addition to general restrictions, the Wildlife Department has imposed a complete ban on hunting in selected areas of Lower and Upper Chitral. Several ecologically sensitive locations have been declared protected zones, where hunting will not be permitted under any circumstances.

These protected areas include Shandur Lake, Broghil, and Tor Khos, which are considered vital habitats for migratory birds and local wildlife. Officials said the ban is essential to preserve biodiversity and prevent long-term environmental damage.

The department has urged hunters to strictly follow all government directives during the season. Officials stressed that responsible behavior is crucial to ensuring the protection of wildlife and maintaining a balance between recreational hunting and conservation efforts.

Authorities added that awareness campaigns and field inspections will continue throughout the season. The Wildlife Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding natural habitats while allowing regulated hunting within the framework of the law.
