Authorities in Islamabad have announced strict measures against taxi services operating without proper registration in the federal capital. The district administration stated that all online ride-hailing and taxi companies must now complete official registration, including providing detailed records of drivers and vehicles.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) has been instructed to coordinate with the CEOs of all taxi service providers to ensure full compliance with the new policy. Simultaneously, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has directed the transport authority secretary to initiate a crackdown on unregistered motorcycle taxi operators.
Under the updated system, all currently unregistered vehicles and motorcycles will be officially registered through a digital automation process. Once completed, the registration data will be accessible to Islamabad Police via a dedicated application. Drivers will then be required to input passenger information for each trip, including the rider’s national identity card number, to ensure proper tracking. Vehicles will not be permitted to transport passengers without this information.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has confirmed that the formal registration process will commence tomorrow. This initiative represents a significant step toward regulating online transport services, enhancing passenger safety, and ensuring transparency in ride-hailing operations across the city.
