Defence and Trade Growth Highlighted in Pakistan-Saudi Pact

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, has said the Pakistan-Saudi Defence Pact has added a new dimension to bilateral relations.

He explained that the agreement has strengthened defence cooperation and built mutual trust, paving the way for broader collaboration in other areas.

Ambassador Farooq highlighted that the pact has positively impacted economic ties. Pakistani exports to Saudi Arabia reached a historic $720 million in 2025. Services provided by Pakistan added another $590 million, bringing total trade to $1.3 billion.

Within a month, the ambassador announced, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement covering eight sectors, including information technology, agriculture, and textiles. Officials expect the deal to further boost Pakistani exports to the kingdom.

The ambassador also noted the role of Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia, who contribute 25% of global remittances sent from the kingdom. Around 500,000 Pakistani workers arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2025, taking the total to three million.

Ahmed Farooq emphasized that the Embassy of Pakistan is actively supporting Pakistani citizens. All departments are engaged in resolving issues and providing guidance to expatriates.

He reiterated that protecting the welfare of overseas Pakistanis remains a top priority. According to the ambassador, the Pakistan-Saudi Defence Pact not only strengthens military cooperation but also enhances economic ties, trade opportunities, and workforce mobility.

The defence agreement reflects the growing partnership between the two countries. Ambassador Farooq said that combined security and economic initiatives are helping Pakistan and Saudi Arabia explore new avenues for cooperation while ensuring stability and prosperity for both nations.
