Kite Flying Restricted Around Lahore Airport What You Need to Know

Authorities in Lahore have banned Kite Flying in areas surrounding the city’s airport to ensure the safety of flight operations. The move comes as a precaution to prevent any accidents or disruptions to air traffic.

The restrictions apply to at least fifteen localities, including Taj Bagh, Bhatta Chowk, Nadirabad, Joray Pul, and Canal Bank Road. Residents in these areas are prohibited from engaging in Kite Flying until further notice. Authorities have stressed that violations may result in fines or other legal actions.

Several blocks of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have also been included under the ban. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued formal instructions regarding the restrictions. Officials said the decision is necessary to maintain uninterrupted and safe airport operations.

Kite Flying is a popular activity in Lahore, especially among children and young adults. However, when performed near airports, it can pose serious risks to aircraft. Sharp strings, flying kites at high altitudes, or loose kite materials could interfere with landing or departing planes, potentially leading to accidents.

Airport authorities have urged residents to follow the rules and cooperate with enforcement agencies. They emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and will remain in place only as long as necessary to ensure flight safety.

In addition, authorities have encouraged people to enjoy Kite Flying in designated areas away from airport zones. This ensures both public safety and the continuation of cultural activities.

The Pakistan Airports Authority has also highlighted that maintaining safe airspace is critical for both passengers and flight crews. Officials warned that even minor incidents involving kites could cause serious delays or endanger lives.
