Punjab Announced 1,000 Jobs in Crime Control Department

Punjab’s newly launched Crime Control Department (CCD) has begun the recruitment process for 4,000 personnel as part of a province-wide initiative to tackle serious and organized criminal activity.

The announcement was made by Additional CCD Inspector General Sohail Zafar Chattha during a meeting on Sunday, which reviewed the department’s progress following the approval of the CCD Ordinance. The session focused on key operational aspects, including staffing, logistics, planning, and defining clear responsibilities for the new force.

According to Chattha, the CCD has been specifically established to target hardened criminals and individuals involved in major crimes throughout Punjab. Its primary objectives include addressing serious offenses such as drug trafficking, kidnappings for ransom, extortion, robberies, and gang-related violence. The department aims to act decisively and maintain law and order across the province.

Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) are providing essential support for the department, offering human resources, vehicles, office spaces, and other logistical assistance. He also confirmed that funds have been allocated for recruitment, which will take place in multiple phases. Additionally, procurement of transport, office equipment, and IT infrastructure is set to begin soon, while suitable sites for CCD stations are being finalized.

The CCD will be equipped with modern surveillance systems, a comprehensive criminal database, advanced tracking technology, and a robust IT backbone to ensure rapid and efficient responses to high-risk cases. Personnel will receive specialized training to handle complex situations and act promptly against criminal threats.

The department’s broader mandate includes dismantling organized criminal networks, preventing vehicle theft, tackling land mafias, and improving coordination between different law enforcement units for better crime prevention. With its state-of-the-art resources and focused operational plan, the CCD is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening public safety and reducing major crime across Punjab.
