Iran has issued a strong warning that any military strike against it would be viewed as an act of full-scale war, amid rising tensions linked to the anticipated deployment of additional US naval forces in the Middle East.
According to a Reuters report, a senior Iranian official said on Friday that Tehran remains on high alert, citing concerns over what it perceives as an expanding American military presence in the region. Speaking anonymously, the official noted that while Iran hopes the latest deployments are not meant to provoke direct conflict, its armed forces are fully prepared for any hostile scenario.
The official stressed that Iran would make no distinction between different types of military action. Any strike—whether limited, large, or framed in technical terms—would be treated as a declaration of all-out war, prompting a forceful response from Tehran.
The warning came after comments by US President Donald Trump, who said the United States had sent an “armada” of military assets toward Iran, while adding that he hoped these forces would not be used. Trump also repeated warnings related to Iran’s nuclear program and domestic unrest.
The Iranian official said that any breach of Iran’s sovereignty or territorial boundaries would trigger retaliation, though he declined to provide details on the nature of such a response. He added that years of sustained pressure and ongoing military threats have compelled Iran to ensure it can defend itself through all available means.
He further remarked that a nation facing constant military pressure must be prepared to respond decisively to restore balance against any aggressor.
The United States has previously increased its military presence in the Middle East during periods of heightened tension, often characterizing such moves as defensive. Iran, however, has pointed to last year’s extensive US military buildup—followed by strikes on Iranian nuclear sites—as justification for its current level of concern.
With regional tensions already high due to ongoing conflicts and diplomatic disputes, analysts caution that intensified rhetoric from both sides increases the risk of miscalculation. While neither Tehran nor Washington has signaled immediate action, both appear intent on demonstrating resolve as uncertainty continues to grow.
