US President Donald Trump has officially launched a new global initiative called the Board of Peace during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The body was first designed to support efforts to end the Gaza war. Trump now says it will play a wider role in resolving international conflicts.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Trump called the moment “very exciting.” He said the idea had taken a long time to develop. According to him, the immediate goal is to protect the Gaza ceasefire. Another priority is ensuring continued humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza.
Trump said the Board of Peace includes senior leaders from different regions. He claimed many more countries are interested in joining. He also addressed concerns that the board could undermine the United Nations. Trump said the new body would work alongside the UN, not replace it.
He acknowledged that capable people work at the United Nations. However, he repeated his claim that the UN played no role in conflicts he says he resolved. Trump stated that he stopped eight wars worldwide. He added that he is still willing to cooperate with the UN on peace efforts.
On Gaza, Trump said the war is “about to end.” He claimed Hamas has promised to disarm. He warned that failure to do so would lead to severe consequences. Trump described the situation as critical but improving.
Turning to Ukraine, Trump admitted the conflict is harder to resolve. He said large numbers of soldiers are dying. He expressed hope that a settlement could still be reached.
Trump also highlighted several foreign policy claims. He praised the strength of the US military. He said the US carried out a successful operation involving Venezuela’s leadership. He added that oil production is expanding in Venezuela.
He further claimed a US operation destroyed Iran’s nuclear capability. Trump said Iran now wants talks. He confirmed Washington is open to dialogue.
Trump also claimed he helped prevent a war between Pakistan and India. He said Pakistan’s prime minister thanked him for saving millions of lives. Both countries are nuclear powers.
Several global leaders attended the ceremony. These included Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan. Leaders from Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and Indonesia were also present.
Western European nations were largely absent. France declined to join. Britain said it is not joining for now. Some countries raised concerns about possible Russian involvement.
Trump said the Board of Peace is already functioning. He described it as highly effective. He said it could become one of the most influential global bodies.
The initiative has limited global backing so far. No other permanent UN Security Council member has formally joined. Russia said it is reviewing the proposal. China has not yet commented.

The UN confirmed its engagement is limited. It will only work with the Board of Peace under an existing Security Council resolution linked to Gaza.
