The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) supporting Bangladesh’s travel concerns for the T20 World Cup 2026.

The PCB backed the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) reluctance to play in India amid political tensions. Sources said the letter was shared with ICC board members.

The ICC is set to decide today on Bangladesh’s request to relocate its World Cup matches to Sri Lanka. Security concerns in India prompted the request.

It is unclear if the PCB’s letter influenced the ICC’s decision to convene the board meeting. However, the ICC has maintained its existing tournament schedule so far.

The BCB, supported by the Bangladeshi government, continues to refuse travel to India for group-stage fixtures. Multiple discussions between the ICC and BCB have failed to change positions.

The ICC reiterated last week that Bangladesh must play as scheduled in India. Yet, the BCB has refused to send its team. You can read more about the T20 World Cup controversy in our news ICC May Replace Bangladesh in T20 World Cup, Who Will Replace Them?. Stay updated on how the ICC’s decisions could affect Bangladesh and other teams ahead of the 2026 tournament.

The PCB’s involvement comes after speculation about Pakistan’s role in resolving the deadlock. Reports suggested Pakistan offered to host Bangladesh’s matches. Some said Pakistan might reconsider its own participation depending on Bangladesh’s case.

The T20 World Cup starts on February 7. Bangladesh is scheduled to play its opening match against West Indies in Kolkata. Two additional group games are also in Kolkata, with the final group match in Mumbai.

The dispute began after Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was removed from Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2026 squad by the BCCI. The removal had no official explanation.

Following this, Bangladesh banned the IPL broadcast in the country. The BCB formally informed the ICC of its refusal to play in India and has maintained this stance.

Pakistan has expressed support for Bangladesh’s concerns. Officials said no country should face pressure or threats from India. Pakistan urged the ICC to address Bangladesh’s security concerns seriously.

ICC backing Bangladesh highlights the growing tension over T20 World Cup fixtures. The situation remains fluid as the tournament approaches.
