PM Shehbaz Departs for WEF 2026 in Davos, Switzerland

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Switzerland on Tuesday to attend WEF 2026 in Davos-Klosters from January 20 to 22. He will lead a high-level Pakistani delegation. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior officials, are accompanying the prime minister on this trip, the Foreign Office said. 

During the summit, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to participate in the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL) session titled “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World.” He will also chair a Pakistan-focused high-level business roundtable with corporate leaders. 

The prime minister will engage with world leaders, business executives, and international representatives. Discussions will focus on Pakistan’s economic growth, trade opportunities, and investment potential. 

According to the Foreign Office, PM Shehbaz will present Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional peace, while highlighting the government’s achievements in economic and social development. 

WEF 2026 brings together political leaders, business executives, civil society representatives, and heads of international organizations. The forum aims to address pressing geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental issues worldwide. 

The prime minister’s participation in WEF 2026 provides an opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen its international relations and attract foreign investment. Officials emphasized that the trip will also help in building stronger bilateral ties with participating countries. 

The high-level delegation from Pakistan will also meet business leaders to explore new trade partnerships.
