Pakistan has reiterated its long-standing position on Iran, stating it will not allow its airspace or territory to be used against the country. The statement came from Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi on Thursday.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Andrabi said Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability. He emphasized that Islamabad seeks a peaceful solution to the evolving situation in Iran.
“As a neighboring and friendly country, Pakistan wants a peaceful solution to the situation in Iran,” he said. He added that Pakistan has confidence that Iran will overcome its current challenges with wisdom and resilience.
Andrabi highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating past dialogue on Iran’s nuclear negotiations. He noted that the country continues to monitor developments closely. The government is assessing regional risks to ensure stability.
The spokesperson mentioned that a travel advisory has been issued for Pakistanis due to the deteriorating situation in Iran. Economic hardships and ongoing protests have contributed to increased regional tensions.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif recently spoke with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. They discussed Middle East developments and Qatar’s role in promoting peace and dialogue. Andrabi said the two leaders agreed to maintain close contact in the coming days.
The situation in Iran has prompted warnings from Tehran to neighboring countries hosting U.S. troops. Officials indicated Iran may retaliate against American bases if Washington intervenes in the ongoing protests. Some diplomats have been advised to leave U.S. bases temporarily, although there are no signs of a large-scale evacuation at this time.
U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened intervention in support of protesters. Rights groups report that recent crackdowns in Iran have killed thousands. Meanwhile, Israeli assessments suggest that U.S. intervention is being considered, though the scope and timing remain uncertain.
Andrabi stressed that Pakistan will maintain its neutrality. He confirmed that the country’s Airspace and Military will not be used for any action against Iran. This position reflects Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability.
