Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has expressed serious concern over Low Gas Pressure across the province. The issue has worsened during the ongoing cold spell.
He raised the matter during a high-level meeting in Quetta. Senior officials from Pakistan Petroleum Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company attended the meeting. Members of the Balochistan Assembly were also present.
The chief minister said people are facing severe hardship. Reduced gas supply has disrupted daily life in many areas. Lawmakers shared complaints from their constituencies. They highlighted Low Gas Pressure and complete gas outages.
Bugti showed concern over the situation in Quetta, Ziarat, Sui, and Qalat. He said residents in cold regions are struggling to stay warm. He directed gas companies to take immediate steps.
He stressed that public relief must remain the top priority. He warned officials against delays and excuses. He said action must show results on the ground.
The chief minister also expressed concern about gas-related accidents. He noted that Low Gas Pressure increases safety risks. He ordered authorities to strengthen preventive measures. He asked them to improve their monitoring systems.
Bugti highlighted the issue of limited gas allocation. He said the Ministry of Energy provides insufficient supply to Balochistan. He described the situation as unfair.
He announced plans to write a letter to the Prime Minister. The letter will explain the seriousness of the crisis. It will seek immediate intervention from the federal government.
Bugti said it was unfortunate that Sui faces shortages despite producing gas. He noted that many households still rely on firewood. Women continue to bake bread using traditional methods.
He said this situation reflects deep inequality. He added that the government cannot ignore public suffering.
The chief minister also referred to Quetta and other cold areas. He said families are freezing due to the lack of gas. He called the situation unacceptable.
He urged PPL and SSGC to improve coordination. He asked them to present a clear action plan. The plan should address supply gaps and technical issues.
Bugti said resolving the gas crisis is essential. He stressed that the problem must be fixed at all costs. He added that accountability will follow if performance does not improve.
