Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong praised Pakistan’s progress in counter-terrorism and economic growth during a recent seminar in Islamabad. He revealed that 90% of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects are now complete. Jiang expressed hope that the benefits of CPEC would extend across the entire region.
The ambassador noted Pakistan’s economy has improved significantly, with a growth rate of 2.6%. He also highlighted the strong cooperation between China and Pakistan in fighting terrorism. Jiang said he was confident that the security challenges related to CPEC would be resolved over time.
Quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping, Jiang said, “The fruits of CPEC can spread throughout the region.” This vision shows that CPEC is designed not just to develop China, but to support neighboring countries as well.
Jiang also suggested linking China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Pakistan’s Uraan Pakistan program. He believes this connection will help boost trade, investment, and regional connectivity.
Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar also spoke at the seminar. He described CPEC as more than just an economic corridor, calling it “a sharing of dreams and hopes” between Pakistan and China. Tarar said CPEC has created jobs and supported growth in agriculture, industry, and trade.
He highlighted the development of Gwadar Port, which is being upgraded to international standards. The government aims to turn Gwadar into a modern and secure city that attracts investors and traders.
Tarar called CPEC a “guarantor of development, employment, security, and prosperity” for Pakistan and the region. The project continues to strengthen the long-lasting friendship between the two countries.
In summary, with 90% of CPEC projects completed, both Pakistan and China look forward to greater regional cooperation and economic benefits.
