The pre-Hajj flight operation is in full swing as thousands of Pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia under the government scheme. So far, 5,250 Pilgrims have reached Madinah through 21 flights. Officials say more travelers are expected to depart in the coming days.
On Tuesday alone, 3,510 Pilgrims are scheduled to leave Pakistan on 13 additional flights. These departures will take place from multiple cities. Four flights will depart from Islamabad. Two flights each will leave from Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Quetta. One flight will depart from Sialkot.
Several airlines are part of the operation. These include Pakistan International Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Airblue, and AirSial. These carriers are working together to ensure smooth transportation for Pilgrims heading to the holy land.
The flight operation will continue until May 31. Authorities aim to complete all departures within this period. Earlier, the first flights from Karachi and Lahore marked the start of the operation. An AirSial flight carrying 160 Pilgrims departed from Jinnah International Airport early in the morning. Another flight by Saudi Airlines carried 345 passengers from Allama Iqbal International Airport.
To improve the travel experience, special arrangements have been made. The Pakistan Airports Authority has introduced modern immigration facilities under the Route to Mecca programme. This system allows Pilgrims to complete Saudi immigration procedures before departure.
Senior officials visited airports to review arrangements. Nehal Hashmi and other leaders saw off departing Pilgrims. Federal and provincial ministers also inspected facilities and appreciated the services provided.
At Lahore airport, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Khawaja Salman Rafique, and Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki were present. They welcomed the smooth arrangements and wished the Pilgrims a safe journey.
