The monsoon season of 2025 in Pakistan is expected to bring a mixed pattern of rainfall, according to data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Between June and September, northern and northeastern areas of the country are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, while central and southern regions may see comparatively less precipitation.
Cities such as Islamabad, Peshawar, and Faisalabad are forecast to benefit from significant rainfall during the season. Islamabad, in particular, may receive up to 893 mm, making it one of the wettest areas. Peshawar and Faisalabad are expected to record 202 mm and 326 mm respectively. On the other hand, places like Nawabshah and southwest Balochistan could experience much lighter rainfall, with estimates around 165 mm.

Overall, most parts of Pakistan will likely receive rainfall between 100 to 500 mm during the monsoon months. The northeastern regions, especially around Islamabad, might see rainfall amounts ranging from 500 to 1,000 mm. This distribution suggests normal to slightly above-normal rainfall levels compared to historical averages, particularly in northern parts of the country.
July is predicted to be the peak month of the monsoon, bringing the highest levels of precipitation. While rainfall is expected to decrease slightly in August and September, it will remain substantial in northern and central Pakistan, supporting agricultural activities and replenishing water supplies.
This forecast will be important for farmers, policymakers, and disaster management authorities as they prepare for the monsoon season and its potential impacts across the country.
