Key Updates:
- Playback Speed Control: Users can now fine-tune playback speed in 0.05 increments, providing more precise control over how videos are viewed, rather than being limited to just 0.25 increments.
- Mobile App Mini Player: The mini-player in the YouTube mobile app has been revamped. Users can resize and move the player while continuing to browse for new videos. Enhanced landscape browsing will also be available for iOS users later this year, featuring larger thumbnails and bigger text.
- Collaborative Playlists: Users can collaborate on playlists by inviting others via a link or QR code. There are options to customize playlists with personal or AI-generated thumbnails, and a new voting feature will allow friends and creators to vote on videos within a playlist.
- Sleep Timer Feature: A new Sleep Timer feature enables users to set a time limit for videos, ensuring they don’t fall asleep while watching. Initially tested with Premium members, it is now available to all mobile users.
- Community Badges: To celebrate community engagement, YouTube will introduce badges that users can earn by reaching certain milestones, such as being a top commenter or listener. These badges will be visible in the “You” tab for mobile users.
- Updated TV Interface: The interface for TV viewers is getting a refresh to enhance the cinematic feel of YouTube. This update includes improvements to Shorts and immersive previews of creator content on channel pages, allowing for an uninterrupted viewing experience while engaging with comments or browsing products.
As these features are actively being rolled out, users can expect to see them available soon.
