Islamabad – Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed across Pakistan today (Tuesday) to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and protest India’s move of August 5, 2019.
On this day in 2019, India revoked Article 370, ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The action was taken unilaterally and is viewed as illegal by Pakistan, Kashmiris, and many in the international community.
To mark Youm-e-Istehsal, various events are being held throughout Pakistan. These include rallies, special walks, and public gatherings across all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
A major rally began at the Foreign Office in Islamabad and moved toward D-Chowk. It was attended by government officials, diplomats, and citizens from different walks of life.
At 10:00 a.m., a one-minute silence was observed across the country to honor the sacrifices made by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Pakistani embassies and consulates abroad are also holding events to raise global awareness about the Kashmir issue. These efforts aim to highlight the human rights violations in the region and the need for a peaceful resolution.
Special media broadcasts are being aired to remember the leaders of the Kashmir freedom movement and to inform the public about the hardships faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule.
In a joint statement, the Pakistan Army leadership reaffirmed their commitment to the people of Kashmir. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, along with top military officials, expressed their firm support for Kashmiris and praised their courage.
The observance of Youm-e-Istehsal serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s continued support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
