The martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali Ibn Abi Talib (A.S) is being observed today (Saturday) with great religious devotion across the country. Mourning processions are being carried out in major cities under strict security arrangements.
In Karachi, the central procession will start from Nishtar Park at 1 PM and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar. Similar processions are taking place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, and other cities.
Security Measures and Restrictions
Authorities have enforced stringent security protocols, including road blockades, mobile network suspensions, and a ban on pillion riding under Section 144 to prevent any untoward incidents.
In Karachi, roads leading to the main procession route have been blocked using containers for security reasons. The Commissioner of Karachi has prohibited motorcycle pillion riding for the day, while law enforcement agencies have been deployed along the route.

In Quetta, mobile services have been temporarily suspended as part of security measures. The Home Departments of all provinces have instructed strict implementation of these protocols.
Mourning Processions in Major Cities
In Karachi, the Youm-e-Ali (A.S) procession will begin from Nishtar Park, passing through Numaish, Nursery, M.A. Jinnah Road, and Sea Breeze before reaching Empress Market in Saddar. It will then proceed through Saddar Regal and Tibet Centre, culminating at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah via Bolton Market.
In Lahore, the main procession will start from Mubarak Haveli in Mochi Gate and end at Karbala Gamay Shah by Iftar. Over 7,000 security personnel have been deployed along the route to ensure safety.
Similar mourning processions are being carried out in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Quetta, with law enforcement agencies closely monitoring the situation.
Traffic Diversions in Karachi
To facilitate the procession, M.A. Jinnah Road from Guru Mandir to Tower has been closed for regular traffic. Karachi Traffic Police have announced alternative routes for commuters:
- Nazimabad Traffic: Diverted via Lasbela Chowk and Nishtar Road to reach Garden.
- Liaquatabad Commuters: Directed to use Teen Hatti, Lasbela Chowk, and Central Jail routes.
- Hasan Square to PP Chowrangi Traffic: Rerouted through Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal.
- Jail Flyover Traffic: Redirected towards Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road.
- Shahrah-e-Quaideen to Numaish Traffic: Advised to use Kashmir Road.
- Jamshed Road to Guru Mandir Traffic: Suggested to take Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
Authorities have urged the public to adhere to traffic police instructions and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience. Security forces remain on high alert throughout the day to ensure a peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ali (A.S).
