Lord William Hague has been elected as the next Chancellor of the University of Oxford, securing a majority in the final round of voting.
He will be inaugurated early in the New Year, serving a 10-year term as the university’s 160th recorded Chancellor, a role with over 800 years of history. Expressing gratitude to the Oxford community, Hague described the election as the greatest honor of his life and pledged to contribute to Oxford’s success alongside the Vice-Chancellor, students, and alumni.

An alumnus of Magdalen College, Hague studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, serving as Oxford Union President. Known for his political career as Conservative Party leader and Foreign Secretary, he has also been a champion of disability rights and an active supporter of Oxford’s fundraising efforts.
