This move is part of the PCB’s efforts to address the logistical and security challenges associated with a potential historic visit by India to Pakistan after almost 17 years.
Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi have been earmarked as the three venues for the two-week Champions Trophy. According to reports, the tentative PCB schedule proposes that India will be based in Lahore, where all their matches, including the final, are scheduled to take place.

This proposal aims to simplify logistical and security arrangements for the Indian team, with Lahore’s proximity to the Wagah border crossing providing Indian fans with a relatively convenient option for attending matches.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently disclosed that a draft schedule had been submitted to the ICC for discussions with the participating members. The main challenge revolves around India’s potential participation, given the absence of bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.
The decision on India’s participation ultimately lies with the Indian government rather than the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite this uncertainty, Naqvi expressed optimism about the tournament’s success, hoping for the involvement of all eight teams.
The Champions Trophy holds significant importance for Pakistan, marking their first ICC event since the 1996 World Cup, which they co-hosted with India and Sri Lanka. While previous hosting plans in 2008 were postponed due to security concerns, Pakistan has seen a revival in international cricket since 2015, with all teams except India visiting for various tournaments.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
