What’s Changing?
- Unified Call Button: Instead of having separate voice and video call buttons, WhatsApp is introducing a single dropdown menu next to the chat or group name.
- New Overflow Menu: When the new call icon is tapped, a menu appears with the following options:
- Voice Call
- Video Call
- More (for additional advanced options)
- Enhanced Group Call Management: Users can now select group members before initiating a call, eliminating the need to switch to the Calls tab.
- Quick Call Links: A shortcut within the menu allows users to quickly generate a call link for inviting others.
Why It Matters
- Prevents Accidental Calls: Combining the call buttons helps reduce unintended voice or video calls.
- Faster Access: The new design minimizes the steps required to make a call.
- Improved Group Calling: The ability to choose participants before placing a call enhances the overall group calling experience.
