WhatsApp to Introduce New Limits on Broadcast Messages to Curb Spam

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has announced upcoming changes to its broadcast messaging policy in an effort to reduce the increasing issue of spam messages on the platform. In the coming weeks, individual users will face new restrictions on the number of broadcast messages they can send.

The platform aims to improve user experience by limiting the number of broadcast messages users can send each month. According to early reports, the limit will be set at 30 messages per month for individual users. Meta suggests users consider status updates or channels as alternatives for sharing more content.

In addition, Meta is considering similar restrictions for business accounts. While business accounts currently have no limits, Meta plans to introduce a cap of 250 free messages during the testing phase, after which additional messages will incur a fee. Customizable tools and message scheduling options will also be introduced for business users.

These changes, part of Meta’s broader strategy to refine WhatsApp and its business services, are expected to roll out in the coming months. The company is also updating the logo of the WhatsApp Business app as part of the platform’s ongoing evolution.
