We Will Return to Islamabad to 'Take Back Our Rights' K-P CM Gandapur

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced plans to lead a peaceful protest march to Islamabad, aimed at asserting the province’s rights. Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Gandapur emphasized that the protest would be “peaceful” but expressed frustration with the federal government’s consistent resistance to such demonstrations. He criticized the federal government for using force in previous protests, including the deployment of rubber bullets and trenches to deter demonstrators, and stressed that the people of K-P have a constitutional right to protest.

Although Gandapur did not disclose specific details of the protest strategy, he assured that the march would be well-prepared and effective. He also vowed that K-P would not be deterred in their efforts to claim their rights, despite facing barriers from the federal government.

This announcement comes in the wake of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan’s call for a final protest in Islamabad on November 24. Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, framed the protest as a stand against what he described as a “stolen mandate” and “unjust arrests,” particularly in response to the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, echoed his message, urging supporters—including farmers, lawyers, civil society, and students—to join the protest and stand up for their rights.

Imran Khan has positioned this protest as a decisive moment, calling it a “final showdown” to restore the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. The K-P Chief Minister confirmed the province’s readiness to join the Islamabad march, reiterating that they will not return until their demands, including the release of Imran Khan, are met.
