Voters are not convinced, despite Biden's desire for a second term.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]WASHINGTON: Only 37% of Democrats want President Joe Biden to run for re-election in 2024, compared to a 70% rejection rate among all voters. Two days after President Biden suggested in his state of the union speech that he is interested in a second term, the results of these most current opinion surveys were emphasised in the US media on Friday.

Nearly all of the address was devoted to domestic problems, including as economic and administrative changes, bringing jobs back to America, and revitalising American industry, which are the most important to American voters.

It was longer than his state of the union address from the previous year by 11 minutes, clocking in at one hour and 13 minutes. However, there isn’t much room for matters of foreign policy. However, he did make a brief mention of China and Ukraine. China, sometimes referred to be the number one opponent of the United States, received only 200 words in a speech that was almost 7,000 words long.

Evidently, topics from yesterday, like Afghanistan and Pakistan, were not mentioned. According to National Public Radio (NPR), the purpose of the speech was to increase Democrats’ comfort level with the notion of Biden serving as their standard-bearer in 2024.

The majority of Mr. Biden’s own party, though, opposes his candidature. Just 37% of Democrats back his candidature for a second term, down from 52% before the midterm elections last year, according to a recent Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll. Only 41% of people think that Biden is doing a good job as president overall.

He is much less well-liked among voters in general, according to a previous CNBC-All America Economic Survey. About 70% of those surveyed thought Mr. Biden shouldn’t seek reelection. However, 61 percent of voters also opposed Donald Trump’s bid for a second term. The majority favour new candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties, but no one is certain of who.

A list of approximately 10 candidates from each of the two parties has been made public by US media reports. Gavin Newsome, the governor of California, is ranked first on the Democrats’ list. Republican candidates are led by Donald Trump.

Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, John Edwards of Louisiana, and Pete Buttigieg of the Department of Transportation are also on the Democratic list. In 2020, some of them ran against Mr. Biden but fell short in the primary.

On the Republican list are Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Virginia Governor Glenn Younkin, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, Mike Pompeo, and former Kansas representative, CIA director, and secretary of state Mike Pompeo. Although Mr. Biden’s diminishing popularity has left the Democratic field wide open, most commentators concur that it will be challenging for any Republican to defeat Mr. Trump in a primary.
