Senator Faisal Vawda has made a strong appeal for a significant increase in Pakistan’s defence spending, citing what he described as a major military success against India despite limited resources. Speaking in a Senate session, Vawda urged the government to prioritize national security over development, even proposing that defence allocations be tripled and armed forces’ salaries doubled.
He argued that development funds should be redirected to strengthen military capabilities, warning that any perceived weakness in defence could overshadow battlefield victories. “If we show even the slightest weakness in defence, the impact of our battlefield victories will be lost,” he said.

Vawda lauded Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, recently honored with the title of Field Marshal, for leading the military with discipline and restraint. He claimed General Munir had instructed forces not to target civilians during operations against India, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to ethical warfare even under pressure.
The Senate session also included strong condemnation of the recent school bus attack in Khuzdar, which lawmakers blamed on Indian-backed elements. Tributes were paid to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his recognition of General Munir’s leadership, as senators vowed to eliminate threats and defend national sovereignty.
Calling for unity, Vawda urged the government to reconcile with the opposition to present a strong image globally. He asserted that Pakistan will respond if provoked, but also highlighted the need for diplomatic and economic victories. “We are peaceful people and do not want war, but the martyrdom of innocent children will not be forgotten,” he concluded.
