Vandal of Col Sher Khan statue arrested in Mardan

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]PESHAWAR: The Mardan Police conducted a major operation that resulted in the successful arrest of the accused responsible for vandalising the statue of Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed during the violent protests that erupted following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on May 9.

The offender, known as Rehmatullah, was caught in Mardan’s Gujargarhi neighbourhood. According to authorities, the arrest was made possible thanks to video evidence and the diligent efforts of investigative agencies.

Rehmatullah was apparently caught on camera while committing mischief, which helped authorities hunt him down.

The statue desecration event occurred outside the Punjab Regiment Centre in Mardan. The act of devastation not only outraged the local community, but it was also widely condemned by residents across the country.

Colonel Sher Khan is a distinguished military officer and holder of Pakistan’s highest military accolade, the Nishan-e-Haider.

Law enforcement officials, who have been under enormous pressure to bring the criminals to justice, have welcomed the arrest of the accused as a tremendous victory.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
