Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Records with Blistering IPL Century at Just 14

In a stunning display of talent and composure, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name into cricketing history on Monday by becoming the youngest player ever to score a century in men’s T20 cricket. Representing Rajasthan Royals, the teenage prodigy powered his team to a commanding eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.

Suryavanshi brought up his century in just 35 balls — the second-fastest in IPL history and the quickest by an Indian. Only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball masterclass in 2013 ranks faster. The youngster’s fearless knock featured seven boundaries and a staggering 11 sixes, including the historic blow over midwicket off Rashid Khan that brought up his hundred. He was eventually dismissed for 101 off 38 balls.

The young batter’s partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, worth 166 runs, helped Rajasthan chase down a hefty 210-run target in just 15.5 overs. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 70 from 40 deliveries as the Royals snapped a five-game losing streak, rekindling hopes of playoff qualification.

Suryavanshi’s innings also included the fastest fifty in IPL history—off just 17 balls—and brutal assaults on Ishant Sharma and Karim Janat, from whom he plundered 28 and 30 runs in single overs respectively.

Signed for ₹1.1 crore last year, the Bihar-born sensation has made an immediate impact, having already made headlines at age 12 with a first-class debut and a century for India U-19s. With his fearless attitude and blistering strokeplay, Suryavanshi looks set to become a mainstay in Indian cricket’s future.
