A dense blanket of fog has enveloped the United Arab Emirates (UAE), severely reducing visibility and creating hazardous conditions on roads across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other regions. Drivers are navigating through thick haze, with visibility dropping to as low as 1,000 meters, prompting authorities to implement safety measures including reduced speed limits and the issuance of urgent Red and Yellow alerts.
The UAE National Meteorology Department has highlighted that low visibility is expected to persist over the weekend in several areas, raising serious safety concerns for motorists and commuters. The fog has created treacherous conditions, making travel challenging and increasing the risk of accidents on major highways and city roads.
In response, Abu Dhabi Police reduced speed limits to 80 km per hour on key highways to minimize the risk of collisions. Meanwhile, both Dubai and Abu Dhabi police departments issued strong advisories, urging residents to exercise extreme caution while driving. Authorities warned that any traffic violations during these low-visibility conditions will be met with strict legal action.
The government and law enforcement agencies continue to monitor the situation closely, keeping the public informed about changing weather conditions. Drivers have been advised to remain vigilant, maintain safe distances, adhere to speed restrictions, and avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
The fog has disrupted normal movement and daily routines, highlighting the need for heightened awareness on the roads. Officials emphasized that following traffic rules and prioritizing safety are essential to prevent accidents amid these challenging weather conditions.
With dense fog expected to persist in certain areas, UAE residents and commuters are urged to remain cautious, plan their journeys carefully, and stay updated on official alerts to ensure safe travel during this period.
