Thick Fog Disrupts Air Travel Across Pakistan

Persistent dense fog in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) caused disruptions in flight operations at Peshawar airport on Sunday. The adverse weather conditions led to the cancellation of four domestic flights, while four others bound for Peshawar were diverted to Islamabad for landing.

The affected flights included PK 286 from Doha, PK 218 from Abu Dhabi, PK 260 from Muscat, and PK 284 from Dubai. These flights were redirected to Islamabad due to poor visibility caused by the dense fog. Meanwhile, flight operations returned to normal in Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, with flights operating as scheduled.

However, parts of Pakistan, particularly Punjab, continued to be enveloped in dense fog, causing disruptions in air, rail, and road traffic. The challenging visibility conditions resulted in several fatal road accidents.

One tragic incident occurred on New Kacheri Road in Multan, where a poultry supply truck collided with a parked trailer truck due to low visibility. The accident led to the loss of three lives and injuries to two others.

The persistence of dense fog has posed challenges for transportation across the region, affecting various modes of travel. In addition to the impact on flight operations, the dense fog has contributed to hazardous road conditions, necessitating caution and preventive measures for the safety of commuters.

It is crucial for travelers to stay informed about weather updates and exercise caution while navigating through areas affected by dense fog.
