Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that US President Donald Trump has urged American companies to invest in Pakistan immediately. He called his meeting with Trump a “milestone” for bilateral relations.
Speaking to the media in New Jersey, PM Shehbaz shared that the investment proposals covered key sectors including IT, agriculture, energy, and minerals. He added that mineral pricing will be determined fairly between both nations.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that future trade agreements with the US will ensure mutual benefits and balanced cooperation across sectors. He also praised the warm reception in the United States, calling it “unprecedented in 40 years.”
The Prime Minister acknowledged the Pakistan Army under Field Marshal Asim Munir for preventing conflict with India. He said the US played a critical role in brokering peace, with the Secretary of State conveying India’s ceasefire message on May 10.
During the White House meeting, Trump welcomed Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The one-hour-and-20-minute Oval Office meeting also included Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Discussions focused on regional security, counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and trade. Shehbaz Sharif also invited Trump to visit Pakistan.
The Prime Minister thanked Trump for supporting the trade agreement and expressed confidence that US-Pakistan relations could strengthen under his leadership. He praised Trump’s “bold and decisive” approach, saying it helped prevent a major South Asian crisis.
Earlier, Shehbaz met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss Indian terrorism and a fair settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He also sought financial support for countries affected by climate change.
In a separate meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the Prime Minister received appreciation for his UN speech. Both leaders reaffirmed commitments to bilateral cooperation and regional development.
