Traffic Cop In Lahore Achieves PhD While On Service

Despite the demanding responsibilities of his position, Traffic Warden Habibur Rehman from the Lahore Traffic Police has accomplished the remarkable feat of earning a PhD. His dedication to education is evident as he pursued and completed a doctorate in South Asian Studies at the University of the Punjab. Dr. Rehman’s focus for his thesis was on “Pakistan-China Relations.”

Recognizing his outstanding achievement, CTO Lahore Ammara Athar extended her congratulations to Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman. She announced the presentation of an appreciation certificate, commending Rehman for his commitment to pursuing higher education alongside his challenging duties.

CTO Lahore also highlighted that among the 3,100 traffic wardens, there are ten individuals with PhDs, 150 with MPhil degrees, and 80 with Master’s degrees in various fields. The educational backgrounds of traffic wardens span diverse subjects such as French Science, Molecular Biology, and English Literature. Moreover, some have completed MPhil programs in Law, Economics, Mathematics, Criminology, and International Relations.

To further incentivize educational pursuits, traffic wardens holding MPhil degrees receive a monthly bonus of Rs5,000, while those with PhD degrees are rewarded with a bonus of Rs10,000. This initiative not only acknowledges the academic accomplishments of the traffic wardens but also encourages a culture of continuous learning and personal development within the force.
