Strict Jail Terms and Heavy Fines Approved for Black Magic Practices

The government has announced a sweeping crackdown on fake spiritual healers and individuals exploiting people through amulets, witchcraft, and sorcery.

Amendments to Section 297-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) introduce tough penalties for anyone practicing or promoting black magic. Under the revised law, offenders may face up to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs1 million.

Authorities have also ordered fake spiritual healers to remove their signboards and shut down their establishments following the amendment’s enforcement.

Sources indicate that citizens have begun lodging complaints in session courts against such fraudsters. Legal experts have praised the government’s move, calling it a vital step toward protecting the public from deception and exploitation.
