TikTok Removes 93.5% of Reported Content in Pakistan to Comply with Local Regulations

TikTok has taken significant steps to comply with local regulations and uphold community standards in Pakistan, as revealed in its latest transparency report. From July to December 2023, TikTok received 303 requests from the Pakistani government, resulting in the removal of 93.5% of the reported content. This effort reflects TikTok’s commitment to addressing the concerns of local authorities regarding inappropriate or sensitive content on its platform.

The report on TikTok’s website, titled the “Government Removal Request Report,” details that a total of 12,392 pieces of content were removed due to violations of community guidelines, and 2,126 pieces were taken down for breaching local laws. Additionally, TikTok deactivated 270 accounts for community guidelines violations and 59 accounts for local law breaches during this period.

Globally, TikTok’s stringent content moderation efforts are evident in its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q4 2023, which boasts a 99.5% proactive removal rate of violating content. This proactive stance is part of TikTok’s broader initiative to ensure a safe and respectful environment for its users worldwide, including in Pakistan.
