Lebanese state media reported that an Israeli airstrike early Friday killed three journalists in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) stated that three journalists died in a raid on Hasbaya, with the Israeli jets striking the Lebanese-Syrian border region around 3:30 a.m. local time (0030 GMT).

Meanwhile, Israel announced that its intelligence chief would join ceasefire discussions over Gaza, while Hamas indicated a willingness to halt fighting if a truce could be secured, marking a potential step toward ending the prolonged conflict.
Efforts toward peace have previously failed, but U.S. officials are hopeful that the recent killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar might create an opening for negotiations. In Cairo, a Hamas representative met with Egyptian officials to discuss truce proposals, stressing that any ceasefire would require Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, support for displaced persons’ return, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid into the area.
Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu acknowledged Egypt’s initiative, welcoming efforts for the release of hostages held in Gaza. Following Cairo discussions, Netanyahu instructed Mossad’s head to visit Qatar on Sunday to continue negotiations.
