The automatic water level gauging system, vital for providing real-time updates on Leh Nullah water levels, is used to help mitigate flood damage. The theft occurred near Katarian Bridge, with the last automatic SMS received at 12:47 a.m. on July 18. An electronic engineer from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Usman Shahzad, filed the FIR with the New Town police. Authorities are working to ensure the new system is fully operational by Monday night.
