The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has directed banks to report all loans issued to women

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has mandated all banks and DFIs to include detailed disclosures of loans disbursed to women and enterprises managed or owned by women in their annual financial statements. This directive, outlined in a circular issued on Monday, will come into effect for the accounting year ending on December 31, 2024.

Under this new requirement, banks and DFIs must incorporate a specific table titled “Advances to Women, Women-owned and Managed Enterprises” within the existing formats of Note 9 ‘Advances,’ as detailed in sub-notes 9.2.1 & 9.2.2 of their financial statements. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability regarding financial support extended to women and women-led businesses, reflecting the SBP’s commitment to fostering gender-inclusive economic growth and empowerment.
