The PTA has blocked 69,000 SIMs issued using fake or canceled ID cards

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken action against illegal SIMs by blocking 69,000 that were issued using canceled or fake identity cards. This measure follows the expiration of the biometric verification deadline on August 16.

The PTA identified these SIMs as being associated with invalid or fraudulent identity documents. Users affected by this block will need to acquire new identity cards from NADRA and then visit their mobile operator or franchise for biometric verification to unblock their SIMs.

Additionally, the PTA has announced that SIMs linked to expired identity cards from before 2017 will be blocked within a week. To avoid this, users should renew their identity cards through NADRA and verify their SIMs.
