The Met Department forecasts rain and thunderstorms across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Department) has issued its latest weather forecast, predicting rain, squalls, and thunderstorms in Islamabad and nearby regions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions as the weather is expected to become unstable in several parts of the country.

While most districts of Sindh will experience hot and dry conditions, coastal areas, including Karachi, are expected to remain partly cloudy. No significant rainfall is forecast for this region at present.

Several key areas in northern Punjab are expected to receive rainfall, including popular tourist destinations such as Murree and Galiyat. Other districts, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mianwali, are also likely to experience showers. The cities of Sargodha, Khushab, and Talagang may see occasional rain as well.

Rain is expected in several cities across central Punjab, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang. Meanwhile, the southern regions of Punjab, such as DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Layyah, and Bhakkar, may also experience isolated rain showers.

Strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with heavy rainfall and hail expected in some areas. Residents in these regions are advised to prepare for potentially severe weather.

Rain and thunderstorms are predicted in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Balakot, and Buner. The cities of Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, and DI Khan are also expected to experience thunderstorms.

In Balochistan, strong winds and rain are likely in areas such as Zhob, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Loralai, and Qila Saifullah. The Met Department has urged caution as heavy winds could lead to hazardous conditions.

In light of the potentially dangerous weather, the Met Department has recommended that residents of affected areas stay informed and take all necessary precautions. Flash flooding, landslides, and power outages may occur in regions experiencing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
