Thai Woman Gives Birth Mid-Flight On Air India Express Flight

A Thai woman gave birth mid-air on an Air India Express flight from Muscat to Mumbai on Wednesday. The unexpected delivery took place with the support of the airline’s trained cabin crew and a nurse onboard.

According to Air India officials, the cabin crew acted quickly to create a calm and safe environment for the delivery. The cockpit crew immediately informed air traffic control and requested priority landing clearance in Mumbai. Emergency medical teams and an ambulance were ready at the airport.

After landing, the mother and her newborn were transferred to a nearby hospital. A female staff member from Air India accompanied them to ensure continued care and support.

Air India Express praised the smooth coordination between the pilots, cabin crew, ground staff, medical responders, and airport authorities. The airline stated, “This incident shows the preparedness and teamwork that defines Air India Express.”

The airline has also contacted the Consulate General of Thailand in Mumbai to assist the mother with her onward journey.

The crew involved in the delivery included Captains Ashish Vaghani and Faraz Ahmed, along with Senior Cabin Crew Sneha Naga and cabin crew members Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid, and Muskan Chauhan.

This rare in-flight birth highlights the professionalism of Air India’s team. It also adds to a growing list of babies born during transit worldwide, showing the unpredictable nature of travel.

Air India thanked all passengers and crew for their cooperation during the emergency. The event reflects the airline’s readiness and commitment to passenger safety, even in unexpected situations.
