In an unusual incident, a Tesla Cybertruck ended up submerged in Ventura Harbor, California, after the driver mistakenly accelerated in reverse. The vehicle, thought to be moving forward, unexpectedly reversed down a ramp and into the water.
The Ventura Harbor Patrol was on routine rounds when they noticed the Cybertruck floating before it eventually sank around 8 feet underwater. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape unharmed. Captain Carson Shevitz of TowBoatUS Ventura explained that the driver believed the truck was in drive but was actually in reverse, leading to the mishap.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including the Ventura City Fire Department, US Coast Guard, and a Tesla field engineer, arrived at the scene. Concerns were raised about potential fire hazards due to the Cybertruck’s lithium-ion batteries, which can be dangerous when submerged. However, after ensuring the situation was safe, divers from TowBoatUS Ventura attached a cable to retrieve the truck from the harbor.
