Former IHC Judge Tariq Mahmood Jahangir Clears Rs30 Million Loan

Former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Tariq Mahmood Jahangir has repaid a housing loan of Rs30 million. The development comes after a court directive issued in late 2025.

According to official sources, Tariq Mahmood Jahangir had taken an interest-free loan during his time in service. The loan was used to finance the construction of his personal residence. Like many similar cases, the repayment was being made through monthly deductions from his salary.

During his tenure as a judge, a portion of the loan was regularly deducted. However, a significant amount remained unpaid at the time of his dismissal. Reports indicate that Rs30 million was still outstanding when he was removed from his position in connection with a fake degree case.

In December 2025, the Islamabad High Court issued clear instructions regarding the remaining amount. The court directed Tariq Mahmood Jahangir to repay the outstanding loan in full. This order was part of efforts to ensure financial accountability and transparency.

Sources have now confirmed that the full payment has been completed. The repayment marks the closure of the financial matter linked to the housing loan. Officials say the amount has been returned according to the court’s instructions.

The case had attracted attention due to its legal and financial aspects. It also highlighted how loans provided during official service are handled after dismissal. The repayment process shows that such liabilities remain enforceable even after a judge leaves office.

Observers note that this development reflects the importance of compliance with court orders. It also underlines the need for clear financial record-keeping within public institutions.
