Tariq Bugti Chosen As Pakistan Hockey Federation's President

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Tariq Bugti, nominated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, secured the position of President in the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) during a special meeting of the PHF Congress convened at the Islamabad Sports Complex on Thursday. Representatives from the Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Olympics Association were present during the election process. Bugti garnered the support of 62 out of 93 PHF Congress members, clinching the presidency with a two-thirds majority.

Addressing the media, Bugti emphasized his commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, pledging to utilize all available resources for the advancement of hockey in Pakistan. He also announced plans to organize a major hockey tournament in Quetta following Eid-ul-Fitr.

Earlier, Syeda Shehla Raza, a member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), was elected as the first female president of the PHF in a separate meeting of the PHF Congress held in Karachi. The PHF subsequently confirmed Raza’s appointment as president and elected Raja Shuja as treasurer through consensus.

Bugti expressed his intention to hold accountable those responsible for establishing a parallel hockey federation, although he indicated willingness to provide them with an opportunity to clarify their actions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
