Tanker Driver’s Reckless Driving Causes Bus Accident, Injuring Picnickers

A bus carrying families to Kalri Lake for a picnic was involved in a serious accident on the National Highway near the Razzaqabad Police Training Centre on Friday morning, leaving over 15 people injured, including women and children.

The incident occurred when a speeding water tanker aggressively tailgated and honked at the bus, causing the driver to lose control. The bus veered off the road and crashed into a sidewalk. Rescue teams and police promptly arrived, transporting the injured to JPMC for treatment.

According to an Edhi spokesperson, the passengers were residents of Orangi Town and were on a family outing when the accident happened. Initially, some injured individuals refused medical help but later agreed after being convinced by Edhi volunteers and police.

Among the severely injured were six individuals: 48-year-old Mukhtar Ahmed, 25-year-old Mohtasim Hussain, 18-year-old Naveed Hussain, 20-year-old Azeem Shakir, 20-year-old Naqqash, and 26-year-old Gulshan.

Police reported that the tanker driver, suspected to be at fault, fled the scene immediately after the crash. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
