Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Tuesday claimed that Afghan government officials face allegations of providing support to terrorists.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Talal emphasized Pakistan’s continued commitment to resolving issues through dialogue. He said Pakistan has consistently honored all agreements with the international community.
Talal highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices for regional stability, stating that no country has done as much for Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan has faced continued cross-border attacks despite its goodwill.
He explained that terrorists often enter Pakistan via Afghan territory, carry out attacks, and then return to Afghanistan. According to Talal, these militants have safe havens inside Afghanistan, making counter-terrorism efforts challenging.
The minister added that Pakistan has presented evidence of terrorism originating from Afghanistan to international bodies. Talal stressed that ensuring peace cannot be Pakistan’s sole responsibility and requires cooperation from Afghanistan.
Talal also remarked that Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghanistan to take responsibility for curbing cross-border terrorism. However, he noted, Pakistan has not yet received a positive response or meaningful action from Afghan authorities.
These statements from Talal underline Pakistan’s ongoing concerns about security along its western border. Analysts say the remarks could increase pressure on Afghanistan to act against terrorist networks operating from its territory.
