Tragically, four individuals lost their lives due to the intense seismic activity near Taiwan’s eastern coast, with hundreds sustaining injuries. Rescue operations are currently in progress, as the earthquake’s tremors reverberated throughout Taiwan, triggering landslides in mountainous areas and prompting warnings of potential tsunamis.

The earthquake resulted in widespread disruptions to power supply across numerous regions, along with reports of internet outages and structural damage in Taipei and other localities.
The Taiwanese authorities have cautioned citizens to remain vigilant for aftershocks, while neighboring countries such as Japan and the Philippines have issued their own tsunami alerts. The seismic event was also felt in adjacent areas, including China’s Fujian province.
The county of Hualien witnessed significant devastation, with numerous buildings collapsing and trapping individuals underneath the rubble.
To aid in disaster relief efforts, the armed forces have been mobilized, and educational institutions and businesses have temporarily suspended operations.
