Former powerlifter Sybil Sohail made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to claim a gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Masters Championship in Doha, Qatar. Competing in the 59kg category, she lifted a total of 95kg — 40kg in snatch and 55kg in clean and jerk — securing first place in her international weightlifting debut.
Already a Commonwealth Powerlifting Champion, Sybil had committed to making her mark on the global stage and proudly raising Pakistan’s flag.

“I want to make my country and family proud,” said the 31-year-old. “We’ve made many sacrifices for this sport, and I’m determined to make it all worth it.”
