Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa initiated the suo moto notice in early April to address various petitions and applications alleging interference by intelligence agencies in judicial matters.
In addition to the SHCBA petition, another petition calls for the formation of an inquiry commission consisting of three top court judges to investigate the concerns raised in a letter written by six judges of the Islamabad High Court regarding interference in their work.
The petitioner aims to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged interference and to protect the independence of the judiciary.
In the letter addressed to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), the six Islamabad High Court judges, including Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Raffat Imtiaz, expressed their dismay over the interference of intelligence agencies in judicial functions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
