According to his party and lawyers, the prison chosen by the government to house Pakistan’s former prime minister, who was convicted of bribery, is a small and faraway facility that shelters tough criminals and lacks privileges that political prisoners are entitled to.

It is a stark departure from the lavish lifestyle with which Imran Khan, the famous cricketer turned politician, has long been identified in Pakistan and abroad.

According to the official website, Attock jail, which was founded in 1905 under British colonial administration of the subcontinent, is overcrowded, housing more than 800 criminals against an authorized capacity of roughly 530.

It is not as prominent or central as other larger prisons, such as Adiala, where multiple previous prime leaders have been held during Pakistan’s 76-year existence, during which no elected premier has served a full term.

Imran’s legal team filed a petition

As a better class prisoner he is entitled to prepare his food under Rule-258 of Pakistan Prison Rules, 1978. In this regard, Jail administration has prepared diet menu in consultation with the convict in question. The detail of the diet menu is given below:
