The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, signaling the conclusion of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid ul Fitr 2025.
The announcement followed moon sightings across the country, with Maulana Abdul Khabeer presiding over the committee’s meeting in Islamabad. Zonal committees from provincial capitals also confirmed reports.

Meanwhile, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) assured that there would be no gas loadshedding in Sindh, including Karachi, during Eid holidays. The uninterrupted supply will be maintained from Chand Raat until the third day of Eid.
In Islamabad, over 3,500 police personnel have been deployed for security and patrolling during Eid. Additionally, 500 traffic officers will manage traffic, particularly for tourists heading to Murree.
Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi outlined an extensive security plan, including 18 checkpoints at entry and exit points to monitor movement.
Authorities will also crack down on street crime, reckless behavior, and aerial firing to ensure public safety. Parks such as Lake View and Daman-e-Koh have been designated as family zones to provide a secure and festive environment.
