Strict Crackdown Begins on Parents of Underage Drivers in Lahore

Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has announced a strict crackdown against underage drivers across the city. The action aims to curb the rising number of underage motorists violating traffic laws.

In a statement, the CTO emphasized that no leniency will be shown. Parents of underage drivers will be held directly accountable. Legal action will be taken against them without any exceptions.

The campaign against underage drivers has been active for several months. However, authorities are now stepping up enforcement across all areas of Lahore.

According to official data, traffic police issued 33,277 challans to underage drivers in just one month — from June 1 to June 30. In addition, 251 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against violators during this time.

The CTO has ordered all traffic wardens to take immediate action if they spot underage drivers. He also directed officers to remain alert and act on the spot.

To make the campaign more effective, Lahore’s Safe City cameras will assist in real-time monitoring. Traffic officers working at the Safe City command center have been instructed to keep a close watch on the roads.

Once any underage driver is detected through camera surveillance, swift action will follow. The goal is to stop these dangerous practices before they cause harm.

Authorities believe underage driving poses a serious risk to public safety. The initiative aims to create awareness and ensure that parents stop allowing minors to get behind the wheel.

Officials urge citizens to cooperate and report any incidents of underage driving. They have also warned that strict penalties will continue until the problem is fully addressed.

This campaign sends a strong message that the law applies to everyone — and underage driving will not be tolerated in Lahore. The crackdown on underage drivers comes as authorities tighten traffic enforcement across Lahore.
