Pakistani actor Sonya Hussyn recently dismissed the issues of colorism and nepotism in the entertainment industry, calling them “just excuses” used by those who struggle to succeed.
During an interview on a talk show hosted by Ushna Shah, Hussyn emphasized that many actors tend to blame external factors when they don’t achieve their desired level of success. She advised aspiring actors to focus on hard work instead of attributing their challenges to skin tone or nepotism, asserting that true success comes from dedication and perseverance.

In contrast, actress Saboor Aly previously discussed skin tone issues on The Tall Talk Show with Hassan Choudary. Reflecting on past industry practices, Aly humorously commented that if whitening injections were the key to success, she would have been featured in every drama. She also recalled a time when directors used ivory foundation to lighten actresses’ skin, noting that this trend seems to have changed over time. Today, she has the freedom to reject such practices.
Nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry remains a topic of discussion among many actors. Emerging actress Shaheera Jalil Albasit, who has appeared in several dramas, shared in an interview that favoritism and nepotism are indeed prevalent in Pakistan’s television industry, something she has personally encountered.
